Male ageing increases sperm damage

As men get older, the degree of sperm damage increases.  One of the  presentations at the ESHRE meeting in Rome scientifically looked at the degree of damage to sperm DNA, the building blocks of our genes and chromosomes. The results are shown above in my slide. . Two years ago at the same meeting in Barcelona, the first indications came out that men were susceptible to reproductive ageing. The difference now is that this study shows us exactly why- the genes and chromosomes become increasingly damaged. Yet more evidence that indicates that men too show the effects of getting older as far as fertility is concerned.

So men, don’t wait too long to have your child or children. Like women, men too become less fertile with age.
